The Group was formed in 1990 by Buffalo Bob Corsino. The group was pieced together a little at a time and the original members were Bob Corsino, Frank Civitello, Tony Valitutto, Vic Hammond and Ron Piga.

They devoted their talents to the songs of the doo-wop era, specializing in acapella and harmonies.

One evening at practice they were informed that they would open for Vito Piccone and the Elegants, whose big hit at the time was Little Star. This left them scrambling for a name. After much consideration, the name Times Square seemed appropriate. In October 1990, nervous as could be, they performed their first gig in front of 1,000 people. Now, 32 years later, they are still performing.

Ron is the only original member left. Former members have moved out of the area, but maintain close relationships. Unfortunately. Founding member Vic Hammond, passed away of cancer a few years ago.

The group has performed at many great venues. To name a few, Rockstalgia at Hunter Mountain

with groups like Gary Puckett, Blood Sweat and Tears, Jan and Dean, Wolfman Jack, Little Anthony, Grassroots, Bobby Ridell, Fabian and even the Village People. They have also opened shows with their dear friend Larry Chance and the Earls, Duprees, Lenny Coco and the Chimes, Fred Paris and the Five Satins, Eugene Pitt and the Jive Five, Shirley Austin Reeves the original lead singer of the Shirelles, the Marvelettes, The Shangri-Las, Johnny Maestro and the Brookyln Bridge. They have performed live on CBS 101.1 in New York City as a tribute on the evening Tony Williams from the Platters passed away.

A major member chanced occurred in 1993, when Vic Hammond moved to Arizona, leaving the group without a first tenor. We learned that one of the members of the group the Cordials, “Tony C”, was interested in filling in until we could find a tenor. He was from the Bronx, with the typical Bronx attitude. When he arrived for practice he said, "I'm gonna fill in with you guys until you get a new tenor". Here it is 2022 and he is still here and travels 60 miles to practice and beyond for performances.

Throughout the years and we have had members come and go but we were persistent in keeping

the name Times Square alive. We continue doing acapella but in 2001 we needed to make some

changes and add music. It was a hard transition after many years of acapella but with the help of

our dear friend and brother Johnny Dell, we put it all together and in September of 2001 performed

for the first time with music with friends Johnny Dell, Jimmy Heslin and Anthony Starpoli.

The current members of Times Square are now together over 10 years and still performing.

Ron Piga, affectionately called “Piggy,” is a founding member and the only member that has been with the band from its inception. He is responsible for their longevity and keeping Times Square moving forward through the years

Bobby Shultz, puts all of our harmonies together and comes to us from The Mello Kings, whose big hit was Tonight Tonight.

Walter Resty, has the voice of an angel and adds depth to their sound. He has performed with

many groups throughout the years and is a retired mounted police officer from Manhattan.

Tony C, the group’s influence from the Bronx, and a well known member of “The Cordials” filled in “temporarily” one day in 2001, and has now been with the group for over 20 years.

Ever since 9/11 occurred, they are proud to finish every performance with, in their opinion, the greatest song ever written, "God Bless America"

Together they continue to keep doo-wop alive and continue to entertain, wherever the music takes them!
